Please be informed that, in accordance with Georgian Law "On Tourism", all tourists entering Georgia are required to hold a valid health and accident insurance.

Starting from January 1, 2026, any tourist entering the territory of Georgia must hold a valid health and accident insurance policy. The insurance policy must be presented in either physical or electronic form and must be available in Georgian or English.

The insurance policy may be issued by either a Georgian or a foreigninsurance company. The insurance coverage amount must be no less than 30,000 GEL.

The insurance policy must contain the following mandatory information:

• Parties to the insurance contract;
• Covered territory;
• Subject matter of the insurance;
• Commencement and expiration dates of the insurance coverage;
• Insured risks;
• Amount of the insurance sum (limits);
• Amount of the insurance premium;
• Place and terms of payment.

Please note that the insurance policy is required to cover the full period of a tourist’s stay in Georgia, including both arrival and departure dates.

The obligation to have a policy does not apply to the following persons:

• Persons holding diplomatic or special visas
• Persons holding diplomatic, official, service or special passports
• Accredited staff members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, representations of international organizations, as well as representations equated thereto, accredited in Georgia, and family members of such staff who hold accreditation;
• Persons whose entry into Georgia is provided for under international agreements or treaties to which Georgia is a party;
• Drivers engaged in international road freight and passenger transport

The relevant Resolution of the Government of Georgia N602 “On Approval of the Rules and Conditions for Compulsory Health and Accident Insurance for Tourists Entering Georgia” will enter into force on January 1, 2026.
