International Visitor Arrivals to Georgia: September, 2017

 

In January – September, 2017 the number of international arrivals in Georgia amounted to 5,822,835, showing an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period of previous year. Out of the total number of visits, 2,783,594 lasted longer than 24 hours (+ 28.8%). The majority of foreign travelers were Azerbaijanian (+11%), Armenian (+16.2%), Russian (+33.6%), Turkish (-4.7%)  and Iranian (+127%).

A positive trend in arrivals was also observed among citizens of the European Union countries. A notable increase was registered of Dutchman +37%, British +33%, German +32%, French +29% and Polish +21% travelers. Exceptional growth in arrivals was recorded of citizens of the following countries: Saudi Arabia +176%, Kuwait +153%, Iran +127%, Uzbekistan +93% and India +73%.

During the period of January – September, 157 countries recorded an increase in the number of international arrivals, which in figures amounted to 986,428. Top ten countries showing increase of more than 10,000 international arrivals registered cumulative increase amounting to 851,023 (86% of total increase).

In September, 2017 the number of international arrivals in Georgia amounted 763,729, representing a 20.9% increase over the same period of 2016. In September, the majority of travelers were citizens of the following countries: Russia (+32%), Azerbaijan (+15.6%), Armenia (+11.8%),  Turkey (+10.5%) and Iran (+80%). Out of the total number of visits, 380,895 lasted longer than 24 hours (increase +24.8%). A positive trend was also maintained of the nationalities of the European Union countries. Notable increase was registered of British +41%, French +35%, German +30% and Polish +25% travelers. Exceptional growth in arrivals was recorded of citizens of the following countries: Saudi Arabia +89%, Iran +80%, China +60%, Belarus +25% and USA +24%.

During this period, 122 countries recorded an increase in the number of international arrivals, which in total amounted to 133,813. Top nine countries showing increase of more than 1,600 international arrivals registered cumulative increase amounting to 117, 013 (87% of total increase).
